Cotswold Estate & Ground Maintenance

Since 2007

Family run

Cotswold Estate & Ground Maintenance Services is a family owned and run business established 15 years ago and managed by husband and wife James and Emma Griffiths. Both from rural backgrounds, their estate management experiences started as children working on their respective families land. Whilst Emma now takes responsibility for the admin side of the business, James is still very hands on with the work and takes pride in employing people with a background in the forces, having himself spent many years serving in the Army.

James and Emma now currently employ 5 others to conduct a plethora of services on a number of sites located throughout the Cotswolds. The smallest estate we manage is a 3 acre garden estate which is primarily horticultural planting and high quality garden maintenance. Our largest is 23 acres on which we assist with the maintenance of the homes gardens as well as regular fencing installation, landscaping and tri-weekly tractor work.

So If you’re looking for assistance managing your estate, no matter how large or small, then we are absolutely able to assist. Please get in touch to arrange a consultation and site visit.

James Griffiths

Managing Owner

James grew up in Painswick and when not at school assisted his father managing their 110 acres of land and cottages. This is where James’ estate management experience began 26 years ago. James’ took a brief hiatus from land and estate maintentance to join the Army in 2001 where he served 3 tours. Upon leaving the army in 2007, James again returned to assist is father, John, in managing his many acres before setting up in business in 2011 to assist others in the maintenance of their land and estates.

Emma Griffiths

Administrator Owner

Emma keeps the wheels of our business turning through her exceptional management of our office and administration including the invoicing and HR. She’s been assisting James for the last 4 years in the general administration of the business. Alongside her impeccable filing, Emma also spends her time organising events for charities.

Josh Ridgway

Site Supervisor

Josh has been with the business since 2015 and was the business’ second on-site employee. Josh is an experienced site supervisor and revels in outdoorsy work. When he’s not ensuring his sites are well kept by our operatives, he enjoys the gym, almost too much!

John Price

Steve Lord

Site Supervisor

Steve has been with the business since 2016 and has enjoyed 7 years with the business. Steve has a great understanding of how his sites are best managed and undoubtedly has the best lawn stripes in the Cotswolds (or so he claims….)! When not at work, Steve enjoys country walks (and pubs) with his partner and his dog.

Michael Thomas

Grounds Operative

Mike is our ‘team grandad’ at the ripe old age of 48. He’s been a keen gardener and landscaper since the late 90’s (he struggles to remember exactly when) and he’s been with us since 2018. A safe pair of hands behind the wheel of a tractor and ride on, Michael know’s how best to manage fields and hasn’t missed a day off work since he’s been with us. When not at work, Mike simply enjoys “doing nothing with my feet up”.

Ben Campbell

Grounds Operative

Ben is our newest team member having joined the business in the summer of 2021. He’s previously worked at the same Cotswold estate for 9 years and is used to ensuring that any walled gardens and private lawns are kept impeccably. When not at work he’s a real film buff and takes pride in having watched the top 100 films on IMDB.

Bertha

John Deere 7600

We call our beloved John Deere Bertha, because she’s big. Bertha has a number of attachments to help us manage any fields that we’re responsible for. Capable of flail mowing, scarifying and a number of other tasks including post hole digging, Bertha is capable of making light work of many acres in a single day, leaving them aesthetically pleasing for all to admire.

Molly the 4th

John Deere ride on mower

Molly has been with us for the last 4 years and is due to retire late 2023. Molly has seen (as of January 2023) 1,728 hours of work, making Molly possibly the most reliable ride on mower in the entire world.

Dolly the 3rd

John Deere ride on mower

Dolly is our newest ride on and we’ve had Dolly for just over a year. Dolly does great stripes on any lawn and enjoys long journeys on the back of trailers visiting various estates around the Cotswolds!
